Bobby D's Blog - The Xmas Edition

What to do on a snowy day in wild and wacky Warren, PA? I guess blog on your website. I know I have been slow with blogs lately – but work and other stuff has come up. Below are miscellaneous updates and thoughts on things that are going on:

- All good journeys or quests need a name or theme. So mine for next year will be “Let’s do it again in Twenty-ten”. I know it’s not as catchy as the “Drive for five” or “Win one for the thumb” but it is mine – all mine.

- During my Quest in 2009 I met many wonderful people and some really great groups. One of the groups I was fortunate to meet is the stopSADS.org foundation. So for the 2010 Quest I am going to partner with stopSADS.org and help spread awareness about Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome and hopefully raise some money for their foundation. I am still working out the particulars to this but my initial thought is to set a goal of $10,000 raised in memory of my wife Shawn Marie. Simple math – 1,000 people @ $10. As I firm up the details of this I will pass them along on here.

- The 2010 Quest has started with the purchasing of tickets to my first 2 games which ironically are games #1 and #30. For the 2nd year in a row I will be at the first official MLB ballgame on April 4th between the Yankees and Red Sox at Fenway. This is an ESPN game which will start at 8:05 pm. Now I am no weatherman but me thinks it might just be a bit nippy at 8:05 pm on April 4th in Boston. How did I come across tickets to the season opener at Fenway you ask? Well as my friend Andy said - I seem to have much luck getting on the Red Sox website when it comes to buying Red Sox tickets. As for game #30 – I am finding that buying so many tickets last season on various teams’ websites that I get a presale code for ticket purchasing for 2010. The Cardinals were nice to furnish me with a presale code for individual tickets and I was able to get tickets to the August 16th game between my Cubs and those hated Cardinals.

- I just realized that my 2010 Quest will be bookended by the 2 greatest baseball rivalries. I start with the Yanks/Red Sox and end with the Cards/Cubs. That is kind of cool and was not planned. Just sort of worked that way. I guess fate is already rearing its pretty head.

- Tiger Woods – I know I should have something funny to say about him, but I don’t. Here’s the thing – nobody is evening talking about Elin and her recovery from this. Tiger will be fine – he will go play golf, win a bunch of tournaments and all will be forgiven. Poor Elin she will now be a lonely divorcee of 2, which in the dating world is toxic from what friends tell me. So me being a stand up guy, Elin if you happen to read this – drop me a line and I promise to not steal the pootie. Ah – the first Jerry MacGuire reference in any of my blogs.

- So my buddy Randy and I were talking the other day and we were trying to come up with the last celeb to take a historic tumble like Tiger did and we came up with OJ – Simpson not Mayo. Please comment on this blog if you can think of others.

- I will not say anything about the Blackhawks and how great they are playing – being in first place and all. No, I will not mention it at all with fear of jinxing what could be a really epic season. Nope not one word.

- Note to Jim Hendry – GM of the Cubs – Johnny Damon is still available. Great clubhouse guy and would fit in real well with the Cub s. Or Matt Holliday would be nice as well – give the old screwgie to the Cardinals. Come on Jim – its other people’s money – have some fun.

- What happened to the Bears this year? A season that brought so much hope – we were even the odds on favorite to go to the Super Bowl. Jeff and I have money on the Bears to go to said Super Bowl. And then Urlacher popped his wrist and Cutler turned into a taller version of Sexy Rexy and we suck. What happened? First the Cubs underachieve and now the Bears.

- I wonder how many times I have tried to type Brian and actually did type Brain. Also watch out typing the word “totally” on a Blackberry – the “i” is next to the “o” on the keyboard and well you don’t want to be sending an email to a large chested HR person and tell her you are titally with her on her great ideas. I wonder if Heidi Watney has the same problem with the i’s and o’s when she is on the Blackberry.

- Speaking of the Orioles – here is an oldie but goodie. Did you know you can’t spell poop without the O’s?

- Ok so one Tiger joke – How is Santa different from Tiger? Santa stopped at 3 Ho’s.

- The Girls of Tiger are really sitting on a great calendar for 2010 – since there are at least 12 now who have come forward – they should do a Girls of Tiger calendar.

- My friends Andy and Kathy read that titally comment and are shaking their heads –here we go again - back to the sugar plums and tatas.

Well I guess that’s it for today’s edition of how bored is Bob in Warren, PA. I hope each and every one of you has a wonderful holiday season and that 2010 brings you all you hope that it will. Check back around the New Year for the first ever New Year’s resolution edition of my blog. I will be hanging with my friends Jeff and Sarah in Flint, MI so I will make sure I get their input for the next blog. Should be a good one as they are much wittier than I. Yes Andy I know – a camel is wittier than I. So for now this is so long and good bye wishing all a truly wonderful holiday season.
